Often the air inside homes is dirtier than the outside. Exposure to dirty air may trigger asthma attacks or allergies, so our house could literally make us sick. Fortunately, there are several steps we can take to prevent and relieve allergies.

* Carpets and rugs: Getting rid of the carpets that make the room warm and welcoming it, but they are a source of allergens. Dust mites, mold and pollen accumulate in carpet fibers and all can cause allergies. Vacuum carpets often eases symptoms, but people with severe allergies should consider withdrawing and replacing them with parquet or wooden deck, tile, linoleum, etc.

* Limit the number of cleaning and household textiles: carpets and rugs at home also helps. All household textiles should be washable and durable. Allergens tend to accumulate in tissues softer and curled. Minimize upholstered furniture fabrics and leather used, vinyl or wood.

* Install blinds instead of curtains: dust and dirt also tend to accumulate in the curtains, shutters and blinds are washable a much better option. Should choose a cotton or synthetic fabric that can be removed and put in the washer. To kill the mites textiles should be washed frequently and in hot water.

* Reconsider the ventilation and heating systems: to turn the air conditioner or heater may leave dust particles. For the dust stays inside, cover vents with cheesecloth or mesh and change the air filters every three months or so. Air conditioning systems are particularly useful in summer to prevent pollen from home through the windows, in addition, the mites do not survive in a cold environment. If the house has radiators, must be cleaned frequently with a damp cloth, because the dust tends to accumulate above and below them.

* Keep the rooms, drawers and cabinets tidy and avoid the accumulation of things: generate dust accumulating things, so they should get rid of old books, magazines or toys for children who are no longer used. The ideal is to have the bare walls and tables and shelves clear. Clean out closets. Pass a wet cloth on all surfaces at least once a week to prevent dust from accumulating.

* Clean frequently: the frequency of cleaning is an essential part to control allergy symptoms. If we can not remove the large rug, make sure suck once a week. Some vacuum cleaner prevents dust and dirt becoming airborne while aspirating. Wash sheets, pillows, rugs and curtains in hot water frequently will also help prevent accumulation of dust, but it is inevitable that the mites from coming back. Should invest in dust covers for the mattress and pillows. Vacuuming the mattress for a few minutes once a month also helps.
